MoneyDance works flawlessly with my TD Bank accounts, but for Citizens Bank it only works online for the Primary Checking account. I also have a savings account and a checking overdraft/line of credit account and those do not get updated. Has anyone else been able to get that to work with this particular bank?

    Mark,
There are a lot of Citizen's Bank, and I couldn't find a listing for PA one. Would you mind posting a link to their primary website?
    Thanks,

In Quicken and MoneyDance I've been setting it up as "Citizens Bank - Mid Atl Consumer" (if memory serves me correctly - I'm away from my PC right now).

    Hi Mark,

Are all of your accounts in Quicken set up using the Mid Atl Consumer connection? Citizen's bank has a few different connection options. If you try to other ones, do you have any luck?

    Moneydance 2011 (791)

I've tried numerous times to download my Citizens Bank data and always get the invalid ID or PIN error message.
This is with my primary checking account (I have several others.
I spent some time on the phone with their tech support - had my PIN reset and it still didn't work.
I then tried the new PIN in Quicken 2007 and - strangely - it downloaded transactions without asking me to reset my PIN - and the tech support person didn't see the interchange go through on their end - they just saw the errors from when I tried to do the same thing in Moneydance.

The work-aroud is o go to their website - and on the far right of your account listings is a little "export" button - which allows you to download the data for Quicken Man - resulting in a QIF file which can then be imported into Moneydance

    Not great, but it woks.

Hopefully someone from MD could find a way to work with CB to try to debug / fix the issue...

If their tech guy didn't see the interchange from Quicken, that probably means Quicken was hitting a different server. We have three different connections to Citizen's Bank. If you try the other two, are you able to connect?

How do you try a different connection?
Or are you talking about use a fee-based connection instead of a free one?
    - that's not what I'm looking for.

We have three different connections to Citizens Bank:

    • Citizens Bank - Mid Atl - Consumer
    • Citizens Bank - New England - Business
    • Citizens Bank - New England - Consumer

Which one of these are you currently using to connect? If you try the other two, do you have any success?

Sounds to me that you are not set up for Direct Connect with Citizens Bank. There is usually a fee, from the bank, for the luxury of using direct connect.

    Per Citizens Bank web site:
Direct Connect vs. Express Web Connect vs. Web Connect: Quicken offers several
methods for you to connect to your financial institution.

Direct Connect provides a direct connection to your financial institution, and allows you to download transactions, as well as initiate transfers and bill payments directly from Quicken, without having to log into your bank website. Not all financial institutions support Direct Connect. Some financial institutions may charge an additional fee for this service. If you are interested in Direct Connect, please contact your financial institution to activate it before you set up your account in Quicken. Once you receive your Direct Connect login information, enter it in this screen.

Express Web Connect allows you to download transactions automatically from your bank, but does not enable transfers or bill payments. Your login is the same as what you use to login on your bank website.

Quicken automatically tries to pick the best method to connect to your financial
institution. When you enter a login on this screen, Quicken will try Direct Connect, and if that doesn’t work, will default to Express Web Connect. If that doesn’t work, you will be taken to the login page of your financial institution’s website.

I believe I was getting Direct Connect service - and there was no fee (via Quicken)
I tried one of the other Citizens Bank choices - but now I get a password (or account) locked error message.
I don't have a lot of time right now to go through this again, but I'll probably try again next week.
In the meantime, using their export option from the website and then the import option from Moneydance will suffice (though tedious)

Citizens Bank does involve a fee for the use of their Direct Connect service.

Well, I don't know what I used with Quicken - I went through the Download interface, clicked Download, and it downloaded all my transactions in all my CB accounts.

As far as I know, I never paid a dime for it.

Currently, with MD, it looks like my account for downloading has been locked out by CB. I'm on the road right now and am unlikely to do any more work on getting this resolved until I get back home (~ July 18th) - at which point I'll update this thread with anything I find out.
