Cannot Download from Chase

I am about to pull my hair out. I have scoured MD Support for answers. I have Moneydance 2010r3. I cannot download transactions from Chase through Moneydance. I can do manual downloads and import them, but have to deal with duplicate transactions and ones that have sometimes cleared.

I have even tried to set up a new account. When I choose Chase from the list, it does not give the option to keep going (Next), but only manual. I have gotten error code 5000, error code 2000, error 500 internal server error and the list goes on. Most recently I went to Chase and opened up the Activate Window and then proceeded to try downloading through MD. It then told me my application is not authorized. I have called Chase twice and they refuse to help. The last time I told them I was using Quicken (because they don't support MD). They said if I was able to download manually, then it is a Quicken issue (not Chase) and contact them. I pulled the manual settings off OFXhome.com and that didn't work either. Someone, please help me here!!! Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say what type of acct you have at Chase but I use a credit card and connect directly from MD to Chase. To set it up properly I had to log on to the Chase site and then go to Customer Center. There I had to scroll down to bottom quarter of the page and under the Tools heading click on "Activate Money, Quicken, etc." Once I did this I and set up the connection in MD I was able to directly connect through MD. You may want to see if this process applies to the type of accounts you have at Chase.

Sorry...I have checking and savings. I have downloaded for years for Quicken. Old computer died and working from iMac now. When you say you went to the Activate window, there are two choices. Download for free or pay $9.95/month to download. Which did you choose? I am trying to do the free way as I always have. It is not working for me no matter what settings I choose. I get a message that "application is not authorized". Thanks for the reply.

    Doris,

The free option uses a connection protocol which Quicken uses to connect directly to your bank's website (web connect). Moneydance only uses direct connect protocols (the $9.95 option) to connect to a different server at your bank. We are looking into way to implement web connections in the future, but it is a technically daunting task which is several months off at the very least. You have two options at this point- pay the $9.95 to use direct connections or (for free) download transactions manually from your bank's website and import them into Moneydance. The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QIF, QFX, OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance. I use this option myself with one of my banks because I prefer to avoid the fees. I hope this helps, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

    Angie,
Thanks for clarifying that. I look forward to the capability in the future and will continue to do the free downloads and wading through the duplicates : )
