You have F&A Federal CU listed on your supported institutions. I bought your program because of that.
I get a java ssl error message when trying to set up new connection for online account. They tell me they do not support Moneydance.

Thanks,
K

    Ken,

Most financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish this by asking your bank to set up your account for connections from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative may not know this and mistakenly believe that they do not support Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect Quicken to this service."

Application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

They say they do not support Quicken. They did support MS Money.

Do Quicken and MS Money use the same OFX settings? I am getting nowhere.

    Ken,

Well, my face is red. It appears that F&A may have disabled their OFX direct connection server. I'm asking our direct connection specialist Jessica to look into this further, and we'll get back to you in the next few days with more information. I sincerely apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience you may have experienced.

    Hi Ken,

Could you copy the exact Java error message you are getting? Knowing the full message will help me troubleshoot the problem.

    Hi Ken,

Thanks for the update. I believe your bank still supports direct connections, but it looks like they recently updated their security certificate. We may need to patch Moneydance to make it work again with your bank. I'll check in with Sean (our lead developer) about this and let you know when a fix is released. Hopefully, you'll then be able to connect.

    Hi Ken,

On further research, it looks like you're bank has indeed dropped support for OFX direct connections. I'm removing them from our list of supported banks, to avoid future confusion. The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QFX, OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into Moneydance.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

    Question:
Do you charge financial institutions a fee for the direct connection of downloading data into accounts? I am told that Quicken does.

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Ken,

No, we do not charge any of the banks we connect with a fee for direct connections. I believe you are correct that Quicken does. Supporting OFX direct connections does require that banks implement a special server for this purpose, and with the de-commissioning of MS Money your bank may have decided to disable this server.

I apologize for the confusion, and thank you for bringing this to our attention as we don't want to claim that we can support connections with banks that we can't connect to. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
