undo bug?

I think I have found a bug with the undo key shortcut on MD 2008 on Mac. While entering text in a transaction field, if you do a CMD + Z to undo the text editing, instead of undoing that text MD does an undo of the previous transaction made.

This is a particularly dangerous bug since the user might mistakenly repeat the undo shortcut and several transactions will then be undone.

    Rob,

What version of Moneydance are you using? You can find out your version by going to the Help Menu and choosing the About Moneydance option. If you are not using the most recent preview version (2008r4 Build 643), please update to that version. You can download the update from our website at http://moneydance.com/preview. Please let me know if your issue persists and we will look into other solutions.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

    I have 2008r4 (640). I updated just now to 643 and retested.

I still see the issue. You can do a very simple test:

    1) add a new transaction
    2) enter a second transaction, and in any of the text fields, type something and then click CMD + Z. Instead of undoing the modified text, the CMD + Z will only undo the previous transaction.

    Rob,

This is the current way that Moneydance deals with the "Undo" function. It is confusing, as this is not the way that the undo function of most software works. I have added this to our list of issues to discuss at our next staff meeting. At the minimum, we will try to clarify how this function works in future versions of our help documentation.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

Angie, what came of this? I believe that it is confusing, especially given that the focus, as it were, is no longer on the previous transaction.

    Just curious.

    Rob,

A bug ticket was created for this issue. The developers are trying to get a preview build of Moneydance 2011 out. I'm not sure if this will be fixed in that build. It is on the list.
