Find... does not work in Mac

Just downloaded MD 2010, running on Mac OS 10.5.8. I have experience with MD since 2006.

Selecting Edit>Find... in the menu produces no dialog or search window.
If I start to type something in the search bar on the Home page, the "Advanced Search" button appears and clicking this does produce the standard search window. However, when criteria are entered--for a transaction that I can see in an account--the search produces no results.

So???

    Ira,

What version of Moneydance are you using? You can find out your version by going to the Help Menu and choosing the About Moneydance option. If you are not using the most recent version (2010 build 723), please update to that version. You can download the update from our website at http://moneydance.com/other. This update has resolved a few key issues our users have been experiencing. Please let me know if your issue persists and we will look into other solutions.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

Angie, I'm annoyed at not being able to find an answer any where to my problem with Moneydance 2010. I have an iMac and OS X10.5.8 I can't keep columns the width I want. I save them but the next time I open the program, I'm back to columns that are so narrow I cannot even see the categories, except for the balance which is half the page. Because the columns are so narrow, I cannot get the crosses to come up that allow me to widen and lessen the width of the columns. If I enlarge the page, I can usually get the cross to show and change the width but not always. When I choose to sort the columns by date entered, it's fine for a couple of transactions and then reverts to another options all by itself. When I save the changes and close down the program and open it up again, all my changes are gone and I have to do them over again every time I need to do some entries in the program. I don't know if I'm more fed up with the program or trying to get to someone who can solve my problem.

I am using MD 2010 build 723. I had read about problems in the
previously released build, updated, and the previously described problem
    still persists.

    Thanks though.--Ira

Thanks, Ira. That's the same version I'm using on my iMac. It seems to
be getting worse. Hoping I hear from someone that can help me with the
    problems.

    Hi Ira

Currently selecting Edit->Find moves the focus into the search box on the main window. The advance search button only becasome visible when you inicialte a search form the home page. I have spoken with one of the developers about this and he tells me that He will add an advanced search option to the edit menu.

I am not experiencing the problem you are describing with not obtaining expected search results. What are you searching for and what options are you using?

MaryLou, I have responded to you post in the following thread.

    http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/problems/547-register-is-f...

Please try to keep one thread related to one problem. we are exceptionally busy since the release of MD2010 and having one problem in each thread simplifies and speeds up our response time.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

    Ben--

Thank you for your response. I now understand the way Find... has
changed, and I am glad to hear it may revert back to a previous behavior.

All of the following were done on OS X 10.5.8 with MD 2010 (723) or MD
    2008 (latest version).

I have attached screen shots of what I am doing and the incorrect results:
    1. The "Find..." request in MD 2010. Note below the Find window is a
transaction that meets the search criteria.
    2. The result of the Find in MD 2010, incorrectly showing NO transaction
    was found.
    3. The same find done in MD 2008 that does show a correctly found item.
This makes me think it is not me, but rather MD 2010
    4. A new problem: The sidebar in MD 2010, under "Investments", shows
only one account, yet the list to the right of the sidebar on the home
page shows other Investment accounts. Should not these show up in the
    sidebar?

I understand the nightmare of a new version release, so I will be
patient, but any help or observations you can provide will be welcome.
If there is something else you would like me to do, please let me know.

I think this is the same build (735) that was recommended after my last
report with "Find..." producing no results when there are clearly some
(see attached image). The problem still exists, unfortunately. Please
keep me posted of any further progress on this bug.

    Thank you.--Ira Lansing

It does seem to fix the problem. Thank you so much.

Is there any way to remove an account with a $0 balance from the
sidebar? I know I can do it from the Home page, but it still shows in
    the sidebar.

    Thanks again.--Ira

Here's 2 ways to do it:

    1. In the sidebar, right click on the acct you want to remove. Select "remove from sidebar" from the drop down menu that appears.

    2. There's a "+" and "-" at the bottom of the side bar. Click on the "-" and a dialogue box will open where you can select items to remove from the sidebar. (FYI, if you hit the "+" sign a box displays where you can add items to the sidebar.)

Wow! If that +/- had been any bigger it would have filled the whole
screen! Don't know how I missed that.

    OK. Thanks.--Ira
