report: Transactions, category + tag = nada!
Hey all, I seem to have found a reporting bug. I want to report a list of transactions, all with the same category and tag in common. So I selected the Transactions report type, because it's the only one with the tag filtering capability.
Strangely, Moneydance thinks of categories as accounts (which I've never totally understood). So in the accounts drop down, I scroll down to my category in question (in this case, Automobile: Fuel). Then I select the tag to filter. I leave off the "All accounts" check box.
But I get no results. I suspect it's because both categories and accounts are listed together in the drop-down. For instance, if I check the "All accounts", then I get results, but in multiple categories.
Interestingly, I tried using the Find & Replace plugin, and was able to get exactly the list of transactions I was looking for. But of course, there's no subtotaling available in that plugin (reporting not being what it was designed for).
Is this a bug?

It sounds like it is halfway between a bug and an improvement. Our wiki is integrated with our feature request and bug reporting system. Please feel free to use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. We now also have voting on all existing tickets, which helps us determine which requests have the most demand.
