Another Math bug in a Net Worth Report
This is another bug/screen shot I'm providing to show MD2010 is
not adding this own screen/report number into a correct total.
Hopefully this can be fixed soon. The attached screenshot shows a
Net Worth report with the incorrect total from the numbers listed.
If I "copy to clipboard" (which is a nice feature!) and paste into
a spreadsheet, I can enter a "sum()" function and it will add the
numbers correctly (as expected) but for some reason MD2010 is not
displaying the correct totals on screen or in the report.
Hope this help to find a solution,
Marty

Hi Marty, Make sure you have the latest build of MD. Currently (743) Check under Help > About Moneydance for your build number.
If I remember correctly there were some issues with the Net Worth report in earlier builds.
Build 743 is available here: http://moneydance.com/trac/wiki/Moneydance2010Beta HTH -Kevin N.

Thanks for that link to the latest build. I'll give it a try as I've
already tried using the Balance vs Current Balance, etc.
Thanks,
Marty

I downloaded the latest build (743) and it problem is still present. What's it's doing is only showing the "Current Balance" in the Net Worth Total even when the "Balance" is selected in the different sections (checking, credit cards, loans, assets, etc.).
This should be easy to fix don't you think?
Awaiting for the next build for this fix.

Hi Marty,
If you change the total displayed in all of the different sections to 'Current Balance' does the sum of the totals equal the 'Net Worth' figure at the bottom of the Home Page?
I think it is correct for the Net Worth figure shown on the bottom of the Home Page to display the 'Current Balance'. It is your Net Worth for THAT particular day.
The ability to change the total displayed in the other sections is just a convenience and has no effect on your net worth.

I agree that is what's happening but, in my option, if there's a program option to show "balance" vs. "current balance"... it should follow-through with consistency though out the process and not just in the different sections (balance) and then have a NW total based on current balance.

Where are you selecting a program option to show "balance" vs. "current balance". Are you referring to File->Preference->General "Side bar balance type"?
I am in agreement with Kevin on the point in that it seems correct that the net worth calculation should calculate base on the current balance.

Hi Ben, I believe that Marty is referring to the option to show 'Balance', Current Balance' & 'Cleared Balance' by clicking on the double arrows across from the titles for each section on the Home Page.
Hi Marty, If you need to check your 'Balance', 'Cleared Balance' & 'Current Balance' take a look at the 'Account Balances' report. HTH -Kevin N.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to (the 3 choices from the double arrows) on the "Home Page". I think I get it now... from my preferences, I had listed all of the things that make-up a Net Worth statement (Bank Accts, Investments, Assets, Liab., Loans, Credit cards) and then I also clicked to have "Net Worth" show up under these items on my home page.
Thus, from my home page, I see these components of Net Worth and then right after that, I have the Net Worth amount. If I understand... these components have a choice to show "current balance", "balance", and "cleared balance" but, for the Net Worth item it only shows current balance.
Thus, from the way I have my home page arranged, it shows all the components of Net Worth in "balance" and then the Net Worth item below these list only can show "current balance". Before, I was thinking that all of these items were just part of a Net Worth summary page from the way I had it arranged in my home page.
.... sorry, I still don't like it this way and think that "Net Worth" option listing should have these 3 choices just like the components of NW have...
Thanks,
Marty
